0001 0002 Scanning with Kooka and KScan 0003 ============================= 0004 0005 Kooka and KScan use the SANE library to attach to the scanner 0006 hardware. It cannot be avoided by any library that a program sends 0007 commands to the scanner which can damage it. Especially very cheap 0008 scanners sometimes do not have a hardware protection against driving 0009 the bed to far, which can cause terrible noise and damage :-( 0010 0011 That is why you should be warned running Kooka or the KDE scanservice 0012 the first time. Even if there were no reportings that something bad 0013 happens to any scanner models using Kooka yet, but it can not be 0014 garanteed. 0015 0016 Starting to scan the first time, be sure to sit next to your scanner 0017 having your hand on the power-off switch. Switch off immediately if 0018 you hear unexpected noises or if something strange happens. 0019 0020 If you find errors, please dont ask the SANE-people without having 0021 made sure that your error is _really_ a SANE error. Most probably, you 0022 found an KScan or Kooka-Error, which should be reported at 0023 http://bugs.kde.org 0024 0025 0026 - Klaas Freitag <freitag@suse.de> 0027 0028 $Id$
