0001 Notes for translators of Knights 0002 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 0003 0004 Here are a few notes to make the translators' lifes a little easier. 0005 0006 The name 0007 -=-=-=-= 0008 0009 In some languages (for example Slovene), the name of Knight the chess piece may 0010 be different from the translation of the word "Knight". In such cases, I would prefer 0011 the localized name to be (plural) name of the chess piece, rather than a man with a horse 0012 and a sword with no relation to chess. 0013 0014 Chess Server terminology 0015 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 0016 0017 The Free Internet Chess Server uses some command names that may be difficult to translate. 0018 In Knights, I decided to use the command names as user-visible strings instead of possibly 0019 more appropriate words. This way, the interface is more familiar to people who are used 0020 to playing on the server. 0021 0022 There is an extensive documentation on the server, at http://www.freechess.org/Help/index.html 0023 and http://www.freechess.org/Help/AllFiles.html. It may come in handy when looking for 0024 explanations about the terminology used. I have tried to add context to i81n() calls 0025 wherever appropriate, but this way you get the whole picture.
